Noot Seear certainly fits the bill when it comes to onscreen bad girls.

The 26-year-old, Canadian model-turned-actress, who stars as evil vamp Heidi in the upcoming New Moon, portrays a murderess facing the heat from the stars of Law & Order in a pictorial for the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

Just imagine the mayhem that could have ensued if she’d been after blood, and not just a pair of gold boots.

After half a life as a model, 25-year-old Noot Seear is now a vampire. And not just any vampire: a Twilight vampire, the true proof of immortality, film and otherwise. In the forthcoming New Moon, the second installment in the rabidly popular teen series, Seear plays Heidi, a crazy-hot bloodsucker who lures tourists to her coven. When we sat down with her, the British Columbia native admitted she’s more grunge than Goth. She spilled a few details about her show-stopping scene in the film. She told us the amusing story behind her name. And she assured us she’s not going to let a childhood full of embarrassing Halloween costumes get in her way.

DARRELL HARTMAN: So, what did you have to do to look the part?

NOOT SEEAR: I didn’t tan for two months. It was awful, and totally unnecessary because they painted me white anyway. And I had these crazy contacts that I couldn’t see through. It was like skiing in a total snowstorm. I could see about two feet in front of me.

go for killer eyes

It’s something Noot Seear, 26, got to do in her role as Heidi, a siren who lures prey to her lair to “dine.” Thing is, the contacts the cast wore (shades of violet, amber or red, based on their mood) made them nearly blind at times: “I had to learn to wear them—not a beauty tip I’d recommend!”

For these eyes, run turquoise liner, like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit in Aqua Paradise ($3.50, at drug-stores), along your lash lines.
Try Seear’s trick for waves, starting with texture spray: “I scrunch my hair out of the shower, hit it with a dryer and let it go wild.”

The history of the model-turned-actress is a checkered one, without a doubt. For every Charlotte Rampling or Penélope Cruz, there’s a Cindy Crawford in Fair Game, the sine qua non of bad career moves. The jury is still out on Noot Seear, but that’s only because Seear, an alum of countless runways and campaigns, won’t be seen in her first acting role until November. That’s when New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, is released—or, to put it another way, that’s when Noot Seear can expect to make the leap from model-turned-actress to paparazzi quarry. In the forthcoming film, Seear plays a “fisher.” “She’s kind of a siren,” Seear explains of her character. “She attracts tourists to bring back to her feeder people. Basically, she’s human bait.” The role is small but vital, and last month, the 25-year-old Vancouver native got her first taste of Twilight-related pandemonium when she joined Robert Pattinson and the gang at Comic-Con. Here, Seear talks to Style.com about the different ways to work a camera, enjoying what’s left of her anonymity, and being a teenager in love.

You’ve been modeling since you were 13. Are all those years in front of the camera working to your advantage or disadvantage as you transition to acting?

Both. The advantage, especially, is that I’m used to being in front of the camera. I’m comfortable having a crew around and shooting with lights in my face, and I get the lifestyle, doing one job and then flying off to the next round of castings. There are similarities. The big hurdle is that when you model it’s all about engaging the camera, whereas in acting, you have to train yourself not to notice the camera at all, and just be in the scene, with the other actors. But that’s what I’ve been training to do. I’m not coming to this totally cold.

Noot Seear is no stranger to playing a vamp, at least where fashion folk are concerned. The 25-year-old Canadian catwalker has spent the last 12 years strutting down runways for the likes of Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler, displaying the kind of chiseled cheekbones and perfect pout that could lure any unsuspecting fellow.

This fall, she’ll get to show off a more literal take on her man-eating side when she makes her film debut in “New Moon,” the much-anticipated second installment in the “Twilight” series, which hits theaters Nov. 20. Seear tackles the role of Heidi, a member of an elite group of vampires known as the Volturi. Her special talent is — what else? — seducing human prey.

But looks that could kill were only part of the job description, according to “New Moon” director Chris Weitz.

Thankfully we now have a good reason to admit our Twilight addiction. Sure Robert Pattinson is dreamy, but ever since Noot Seear joined the cast, it’s really more of a work reason to obsess. Not like we weren’t already on the vampire bandwagon as it was. “We wanted someone who had an unearthly and unlikely beauty, but could also convey humor and menace,” said director Chris Weitz. “It’s rare to find a stunningly attractive person who also happens to have the ability to act.”

The supermodel sat down to chat about her work on the set, admitting that she not only signed on for the next two movies, but that she’ll also be wearing Balmain to the premiere of New Moon. We swoon.

“I’ve always been biting at the bit to get into this industry,” said Noot. She’s been working with Alan Savage for years, but this will really be her massive debut. “Alan was always like, ‘Be patient, you’ve only got one shot at this.’” And this one shot was perfect for her. “I started reading the books, and I couldn’t put them down.”

A new heartthrob has joined the likes of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in the ‘Twilight’ movie series. Model Noot Seear takes on the role of an irresistible, vampire seductress in ‘New Moon,’ and she reveals the challenges of her sexy character.

Seear plays Heidi who is a member of the elite group of Italian vampires known as the Volturi — and she possesses the gift of seducing humans.

‘New Moon’ director Chris Weitz talks to Women’s Wear Daily about casting Seear for the intoxicating role, “We wanted someone who had an unearthly and unlikely beauty, but could also convey humor and menace. … It’s rare to find a stunningly attractive person who also happens to have the ability to act.”

The “New Moon” vampires have found their human bait — and we have to credit their taste.

Canadian model Noot Seear has been cast as Heidi, a so-called “fisher” who brings tasty, tasty humans to her vampire masters, in the “Twilight” sequel, according to E! Online’s Marc Malkin. That means Seear will be working with Dakota Fanning, whose vampire elder Jane brings judgment on the forbidden love between teen human Bella ( Kristen Stewart) and secret vampire Edward ( Robert Pattinson).

The announcement comes days after a group of Native American actors were cast as the Wolf Pack werewolves. Here’s hoping production isn’t delayed by last-minute casting: “New Moon” rises over theaters Nov. 20, a very quick turnaround.

Seear’s acting resume has been limited to small roles like “CK Girl” in the Freddie Prinze Jr. romantic comedy “Head Over Heels.” She also had bit parts in Canadian series “Whistler” and “Cold Squad,” plus a role on the MTV series “Kaya.”
